In 2008, the ability of ISO standards to ensure and instil confidence became even more important as the repercussions of the global financial crisis made themselves felt across business sectors and economies worldwide, notes the International Organization for Standardization. Its annual report, entitled «ISO standards: Integrated confidence,» points out that the ISO published 1,230 standards in 2008, bringing its portfolio to 17,765 standards.
