Coordination group to take over from Rome conference

After three days of sector-based workshops, the 1,700 or so participants in the European Maritime Day Stakeholder Conference, held from 18 to 20 May in Rome, issued around 50 highly technical recommendations. The common denominator is the necessity for all stakeholders to develop cooperation within the framework of a truly integrated maritime policy. A coordination group will translate this determination into action and an initial assessment will be made in one year under the Spanish EU Presidency. Madrid agreed to organise European Maritime Day 2010 in Spain.
