Electricity industry calls for CCS grant transparency

The electricity association Eurclectric called once again for transparency as the European Commission and the member states start allocating funds for demonstration of technologies for carbon capture and storage (CCS). In a short report issued on 25 May, Eurelectrie stated that it is essential for plant selection criteria to be fully "transparent". The full amount earmarked for CCS projects should be made available as agreed from the 'new entrants reserve' under the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS). Funds should also be disbursed in a "timely" manner, said the association.
