The European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) calls for amendments to the Energy Labelling Directive, notably stipulating that advertisements should indicate an energy-related product's energy consumption. Technical promotional literature, such as manuals and manufacturers' brochures, should also show energy consumption. Adopted by MEPs in the ITRE committee, with 45 votes in favour and two against, the co-decision report is now scheduled for a first-reading plenary vote in Strasbourg (21-24 April). The exact technical details emanating from this recast directive on labelling and standard product information of energy and energy-related products, including the energy classes of specific products, are to be determined by a European Commission working group under the regulatory procedure with scrutiny.
