The EU is prepared to work for an "ambitious result" at the Cancun climate summit, said Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, who hopes the other countries will follow suit. On a visit to Bucharest, on 3 June, she declared: "We in Europe are prepared to do our best to achieve an ambitious result at the Cancun summit," from 29 November to 10 December. Along the same lines, Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC),rnsaid in Bonn that' Cancun can produce results if aid promises are kept and if compromise promises are respected in the negotiations".
