Veterinary Week to focus on traceability

The traceability of animals and foodstuffs of animal origin is the central theme of this year's European Veterinary Week, from 14 to 20 June. The monitoring of animals and products from birth or from production to consumption is, in fact, considered to be a key factor in food safety and hygiene but also contributes to the quality of food (in particular via controlled denomination of origin). A series of rules set up by the EU have been in place since the 1990s, recalls the European Commission.
