GMOs: Ministers rap Commission's knuckles

The Environment Council, on 11 June, called the European Commission to order on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in a debate requested by France.rnBack in March 2008, the environment ministers invited the Commission to review the functioning of the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) to ensure, on the one hand, that it gives greater account to the expertise of the member states and, on the other, that it includes in its analyses an environmental risk assessment for which guidelines were to be published no later than March 2010.
