Diamandouros: EU administration could be 'more transparent'

The European Ombudsman, Greek national Nikiforos Diamandouros, has called on the EU administration to become more transparent and citizen-friendly.rnHis annual report 2009, presented on 29 April in Brussels, shows that more than one third of last year's complaints that led to inquiries concerned a lack of transparency by the institutions, particularly the refusal to release documents or information. Other allegations of maladministration concerned late payment for EU-funded projects, unfairness, abuse of power and discrimination.
