The EU has endorsed a new goal, proposed by US President Barack Obama, of securing all vulnerable nuclear materials inrnfour years. "The EU will extend its cooperation to all members of the international community united in this joint endeavour," European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said in a statement to the 11-13 April Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. Leaders from forty-seven countries, including ten EU member states, approved a joint state-rnment and work plan to achieve this goal.
