DHA health claim to be authorised in EU soon

With their rejection, on 6 April, of the resolution tabled by the Socialist group, members of the European Parliament backed the introduction of a new health claim on the inclusion of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in food. There are thus no more obstacles to the implementing regulation on the authorisation of certain health claims on food, in this case concerning infant health and development, submitted to Parliament and the Council for approval. This includes the claim that the addition of DHA to baby food "contributes to the normal visual development of infants up to 12 months of age".
