The justifications for a ban on the cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) as proposed by the European Commission have been labelled as "a good basis for discussion" at most by member states, but they consider them to be still too vague. Meeting in Brussels, on 14 March, the EU's environment ministers further highlighted what they saw as the inadequacies of the document proposed by the Commission.
