Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas felt a wind of revolt in the European Parliament's Committee on Transport (TRAN), on 26 March. The issue under discussion was gigaliners, the giant trucks that the commissioner intends to authorise in cross-border traffic between two states that allow them to circulate on their national territory. The conclusion is still uncertain, though: after the debate during which many MEPs criticised both the substance and form of Kallas's initiative, he said he would think the matter over again taking committee members' remarks into account.
