Mackerel talks still at impasse

Negotiations by Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the European Union and Norway to settle the dispute over mackerel fishing quotas are still at a total standstill. The first negotiating session of the year, from 23 to 27 January, ended in failure. As part of this process, Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki met Iceland's Minister for Economic Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Steingnmur J. Sigfusson, on 25 January in Brussels.
