ITER gets extra 1.3 bn euro funding in 2012-2013 budget

The European Commission adopted, on 27 January, a draft amending budget for the years 2012-2013 to secure the extra €1.3 billion needed to finance the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project. Following months of negotiation, an agreement on the issue was reached between Parliament and Council on 13 December 2011. The current proposed amendment gives concrete form to this compromise.
