Council adopts unambitious conclusions

The road map on resource efficiency is a key element of the flagship initiative 'A resource efficient Europe' that forms part of the 'Europe 2020' strategy, note the member states' environment ministers in conclusions adopted on 19 December 2011. Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik welcomes the Council's recognition of the road map's importance in the 2020 strategy and the need for a cross-sector approach, but regrets the ministers' "lack of ambition" and the fact that they make do with mere declarations.
