This paper focuses on modelling of an industrial cemen, grinding circuit using physical arguments and experimental data. The resulting grey-box' model, which consisis of a mixed set of algebraic and partial differential equations, can be used to gain some insight into the process dynamics and design control loops to achieve product specip- cations. Several multivariable control schemes using feed rate and classifier speed as manipulated vari- ables, and the circulating material flow rates ana/or the fineness of the product as controlled variables, respectively, are compared and the influence of dis- turbances, i.e., variations in the material grind- ability, is investigated
