As one can imagine, a lot has been written about the intellectual property laws of the United States. There are endless journal articles and many excellent casebooks. In combination with the cases themselves they are the perfect materials for an in depth study of United Statesrnintellectual property law. This book does by no means aim to replace them.rnIt is true though that outside the United States many students and practicing lawyers do not need an in-depth knowledge of every aspect of US law. They need to understand the basic and the fundamental aspects of US intellectual property law. This is where in my view this book fits in and outclasses its competitors.rnThe book deals with the three main intellectual property rights: copyright, patents and trademarks. Each area is examined in a systematic way on the basis of the key statutory provisions and quotes from the relevant cases. The resulting text reads well and the reader gets a well-structured overview of the law in each area. The level of detail is quite good and the reader acquires a precise and workable insight in the workings of each area of law.
