Intellectual Property and Traditional Cultural Expressions in a Digital Environment

This book is a very significant contribution to the question of protecting traditional cultural expressions (TCE) which form an essential part of indigenous communities' identity. This topic has gained particular prominence during the last two decades. Despite this fact, the international community is yet to articulate a comprehensive manner for protection of TCE. The lack of coherence is due to the collisions between competing regulatory regimes and to the collisions between global communication systems and local traditions inherent to the TCE issues. The advent of the digital era has fuelled the tension between these competing regulatory regimes and between global law and local traditions.
