摘要

Now in its fifth edition, Richard Arnold's Performers' Rights remains the reference work on this relatively little explored area of the law in the UK. As the author acknowledges in his preface to this latest edition, the main international development that has occurred since the release of the fourth edition in 2008 has been the adoption of the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances. While this instrument has remedied the lack of an international framework for the protection of performers who have allowed the audiovisual fixation of their performances, as far as the UK is concerned its impact will be minor. This is so because UK law already provides for such protection.
