Background: In patients (pts) with aortic stenosis (AS) left ventricular (LV) global afterload is reflected by combined valvular and arterial resistance to LV ejection, which may be assessed by measuring the valvuloarterial impedance (Zva). The role of LV torsion/untwisting as important components of LV function was previously emphasized, but the impact of combined valvuloarterial impedance on LV torsional deformation has not been studied so far in pts with AS.
