Vote on the Energy Efficiency Directive

Euroheat & Power welcomes the vote on the Energy Efficiency Directive in the ITRE Committee as a signal to Member States that action on energy efficiency is an absolute necessity for achieving the European Union's 2020 goals. The Directive is an important piece of legislation for moving closer to a resource efficient and low carbon energy sector. Binding national efficiency targets as agreed by Members of Parliament in the ITRE Committee is a key element for securing its effectiveness. Focussing on primary energy reductions as the main goal will ensure maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness in implementation.
