Minimising Costs and Maximising Plant Efficiency

The past has shown that too often, plant and equipment managers have directed their attention to big ticket items, such as boilers, pumps, regulating valves, etc., while neglecting secondary fittings, e.g. strainers. As a consequence and due to the procurement of low performing strainers, a variety of factors with negative effects on the subsequent costs did arise. Therefore commercially available standard strainers have been assessed and compared. Besides, pros and cons of those strainers have been analysed and experiences from practitioners have been gathered by discussing and interviewing plant operators and maintenance staff.
