Electrostatic filter incorporating porous tubular electrode - with centrifugal effect and piezoelectric source of high potential, maximising efficiency, minimising space taken up and cost
An electrostatic filter incorporates an electrode in porous conducting material formed into a tube pref. cylindrical and integral with a rotary mounting. The tube can carry vanes inside or outside. The porous material can be expanded plasted material, electrically conducting, flexible or rigid, of which the communicating cells are open to the exterior on the inner and outer surfaces of the tube. The electrode can be realised by several layers of porous material or fibres in concentric rings to constitute a tube, e.g. a sheet of plastic with communicating cells can be covered with a sheet of metallic fibres, itself covered with another sheet of plastic with communicating cells. The two electrodes can be similar, one fixed and the other rotating. The filter utilises fewer poart and is more efficient for an equal electric potential than existing filters because the fluid is divided into a large number of very small streams. Deflection plates are unnecessary. Cost and space taken by are reduced.
