District Heating in The Netherlands

Times are changing in The Netherlands. Henk Kamp, the Dutch minister of the Department of Economic Affairs announced on 24 June 2015 a further restriction on the production in 2016 of natural gas in Groningen to 24 billion m~3. That is only half the production compared to the record year 2013. Earthquakes in the Groningen area are the reason for these restrictions. In February 2016 Kamp restricted the production to 27 billion m~3 at the sime time presenting a vision for heating in which he suggested to replace natural gas grids by district heating networks.
