The last edition of this series has dealt with London, a place with a history dating back to the Romans and with »overwhelming dimen-sions« mirrored in the fact that until the year 1925 no other city of the globe had counted as much inhabitants as the British capital. The present paper narrows the focus on Munich, Germany's third largest city (behind Berlin and Hamburg). This quickly growing metropolis is characterised by its cosmopolitan character and very high productivity factor in which the city's municipal utility plays a vital role. Aim is to make the full shift to renewable energy resources (RES) as basis for the local DHC-system until 2040.
