District Heating in Brussels: The Framework for Heat Transition

The recent weeks and months have been very busy for the District Heating and Cooling sector and the weeks and months to come will not be quieter. The reason for this is the already well known Clean Energy for All Europeans Package, which was published by the European Commission in November 2016. The three Directives being of significant importance to District Heating (DH) and Combined Heat and Power (CHP), the new Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), the amended Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) have already been agreed on, the last of which was already published in the Official Journal of the European Union and entered into force.
