Taking joint action: Paris Metropole

In late 2007, Paris - forgotten among the more urbanisti-cally ambitious European metropoles - hit the limelight again, when president Nicolas Sarkozy launched the Grand Pari(s) international architecture competition, an attempt to gather visions of how to turn the Greater Paris region into a sustainable metropolis fit for the 21st century.
