In June 1994 a delegation of Saarbergwerke AG had the opportunity to visit the mine company Ashland-Coal, Incorporated (ACI). The following report describes the position of ACI in the American hard coal market, the structure of the company, the organization - especially the one of Mingo Logan - and finally the features of the planning mentality.%Im Jahr 1994 hatte eine Delegation der Saarbergwerke die Möglichkeit, die Bergwerksgesellschaft Ashland-Coal zu befahren. In dem nachstehenden Befahrungsbericht werden die Einordnung von Ashland-Coal in den amerikanischen Steinkohlenmarkt, die Struktur der Gesellschaft, die Organisation -speziell des Betriebes Mingo Logan - und schließlich die Besonderheiten der Planungsmentalität dargestellt.
