One of the most common causes for accidents on the rig floor is the handling of bottom hole assembly components and other tubulars. Heavy accidents are tragic for all those involved. Besides, every accident causes costs for the company concerned. In the past couple of years machines and procedures have been developed that replace a lot of the manual work. These machines are remote controlled so that the user operates from a safe location. Those machines were originally only developed to make the working environment safer. After some years of practical experience it has shown that the use of those machines enables to save a considerable amount of time and, hence, costs. Many of those machines and procedures were developed and built in Langenhagen.
