Creating Value with Proactive Environmental Strategies

An increasing number of companies are discovering that implementation of proactive environmental management programs can make significant contributions to profitability and competitiveness. The environmental management systems (EMSs) and practices of organizations have become increasingly important to senior management, as well as to shareholders, the public, and the financial investment community. Adoption of a conformance-based EMS, such as ISO 14001, is just a small part of delivering value. Only those environmental management programs that are implemented effectively and communicated to all employees, and that emphasize improved environmental performance, will result in value for the organization.
