Analyzing Sources of Air Pollution with Factal Analysis: Case Study from a Coal Washery in India

The study described here analyzed air pollution at a large coal washery in India. The data revealed that the main air pollutant at the site was SPM (dust). Ambient air quality data revealed high levels of pollution both at the project site and in surrounding areas. The dust was respirable and was found to contain benzene-soluble material, making it harmful to human health. These findings suggest a need for more stringent ambient air quality standards in coal mining and coal processing areas.
