Mercury in Chinese reservoirs

摘要

Mercury (Hg) in hydropower reservoirs may once more become an emerging research issue, as China is building hydro-power dams at high speed and Hg pollution in China is receiving increasing interest. Two papers in the current issue of this journal (Feng et al., in press-a,b) show how Chinese reservoirs may behave differently with respect to Hg mobilization compared to the much studied cases in North America and Europe.
