The complexity of the oil and natural gas (O&G) sector has been reflected in multiple regulatory revisions to Subpart W of the Agency's greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting regulations. The latest set of revisions impose reporting requirements on several O&G sources not previously included under Subpart W (Petroleum and Natural Gas Systems). The new requirements affecting Subpart W reporting are as follows: 1. Addition of a new industry segment called Onshore Petroleum and Natural Gas Gathering and Boosting; 2. An amendment requiring reporting of GHG emissions from completions and workovers with hydraulic fracturing for wells in the Onshore Petroleum and Natural Gas Production segment; 3. Addition of reporting requirements for emissions from natural gas transmission pipeline blowdowns between compressor stations in a new Onshore Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline segment; 4. A requirement to report well identification numbers for the Onshore Petroleum and Natural Gas Production segment for information related specifically to wells; and 5. Allowing the use of best available monitoring methods (BAMMs) for the 2016 reporting year for only the new industry segments and emissions sources included in this action.
