EPA established a subcategory of certain existing electric utility steam generating units (EGUs) firing eastern bituminous coal refuse for acid gas hazardous air pollutant (HAP) emissions under NESHAPs for coal- and oil-fired EGUs, commonly known as the mercury and air toxics standards, and established acid gas HAP emission standards applicable only to the new subcategory. 85 FR 20838 (4/15/20). EPA revised NESHAPs for hydrochloric acid production based on the source category's residual risk and technology review to add electronic reporting; address periods of start-' up, shutdown, and malfunction; and establish work practice standards for maintenance activities pursuant to the CAA. 85 FR 20855 (4/15/20).
