Few patches of the world's oceans have garnered as much attention as the Northwest Atlantic. The romance and drama of whaling and the rise and fall of cod and other groundfish have attracted generations of writers and historians. Peter Borrelli-a longtime environmental activist and former director of the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies-has written a micro-history of one small section of the Northwest Atlantic, the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.
