摘要

the Love Canal landfill, a 16-acre tract, in Niagara Falls, NY contained approximately 21,800 tons of chemical wastes. Substantial migration and contamination of soil, groundwater and basement air of nearby homes became apparent in the late 1970s. Residents of the two streets adjacent to the landfill were evacuated in 1978 and residents of several nearby streets were evacuated in 1980. After extensive remediation and testing, resettlement of the area began in 1988 and was completed in 1994.
