Social and ethical dimensions of exposure to environmental toxicants

摘要

The effective understanding of human health effects of exposure to environmental toxicants requires more than a knowledge of the mechanisms of toxicity or dose-response relationship. It also requires a full comprehension of the social and economic context of both occupational and non-occupational exposures to environmental and industrial chemicals. Particularly necessary is parallelism in the efforts of toxicologists and other environmental and occupational health scientists and the work of social and behavioral scientists, including social epidemiologists.
