One of the reasons why Design Environmental can roll out new products, like its Delta temperature chamber range, and get involved in projects such as HALT/HASS, is because of a takeover bid six years ago that shocked many. There were more than a few raised eyebrows in the testing community when, somewhat surprisingly, Design Environmental happily married into the Schunk Environmental Group, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of environmental test systems. At the time the move caused a stir within certain testing circles, with competitors and so-called testing experts accusing Design Environmental of "selling out" and helping to "deal another blow to the UK testing sector."
