Predicting vehicle component failure is key to avoiding potential disaster in the air, on the road or out at sea. But it can also help to reduce operating costs, increase competitiveness and allow companies to assess the effectiveness of their fleets.rnAnd integrated vehicle health management (IVHM) testing is key to keeping vehicles in the air, on the roads and out at sea. Sensors throughout the vehicle collect data on the condition of parts, drawing a picture of any degradation.rnCranfield University and Boeing have created a new IVHM centre to progress the technology. The university has received ￡3 million from the East of EnglandrnDevelopment Agency, and brought on board four more partners -BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt and Thales - each investing ￡200,000 a year for the next five years.
