Commission kicks off review of EU emissions trading scheme

Consultations on the review of the EU trading scheme for carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions (EU-ETS) will start shortly. The European Commission confirmed on 2 June that it is to launch a web survey to consult stakeholders on their views. Making the announcement, European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas encouraged all stakeholders with "hands on experience in emissions trading" to contribute their ideas and input for the review. "This survey is a crucial element in our review of the system and our preparations for the next steps" added Dimas.
