New accreditation procedure for EMAS

The European Commission has this month decided on revised standards and accreditation requirements allowing participation in the Community eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS) in the Official Journal (1). In Austria, the Commission recognises its Environmental Management Law applicable to environmental verifying individuals and groups. In Germany it will accept the guidelines for accreditation and certification procedures issued in 1996 by the German Federal Ministries of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and for Economics.
