WEEE not always a cost, says domestic appliance industry

The assumption that dealing with waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) always has a cost has been proved wrong, according to Luigi Meli, director general of the European household appliance makers (CECED).rn"It is not true that all waste has a cost. There is a downstream market for raw materials," Mr Meli told the 3rd annual Agra Informa WEEE conference on 18 September. He said that this created distortion in the market, and problems in dealing with WEEE in general.
