New rules effectively ban GM maize in Germany

The German government has imposed stricter regulations on the sale of Monsanto's GM maize seeds, which effectively amount to an outright ban of the MON810 variety. The company has, to date, been selling seed of its MON810 varieties in Germany, mainly in the north eastern state of Brandenburg.
