Recycling gets boost through raw materials strategy

Finding new ways to substitute raw materials where possible with more recycling and re-use of products are among the policies put forward by the European Commission this week in a strategy published on 4 November aimed at safeguarding EU industry's supply of critical raw materials. Recycling, according to the Commission, presents a huge opportunity to reduce import dependency for raw materials. However, the problem is, many end-of-life products are illegally shipped outside the EU and are therefore not recycled within the bloc.
