Farm ministers to look at sustainable timber

Farm ministers are to hold an open discussion on 27 October on a proposed regulation on marketing of timber and timber products. The regulation aims to prevent tropical deforestation and help firms in Europe choose sustainably produced timber.rnThe Farm Council will also look at the 'health check' of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy, including measures designed to green up European agriculture. Fish stock conservation will be the order of the day next Tuesday when fisheries ministers gather inrnLuxembourg for a Council that will adopt the EU position that the European Commission will defend in Marrakech at the annual meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) which begins on 17 November.
