Timber Resources and Factors Affecting Timber Availability and Sustainability for a Cellulosic Ethanol Facility in Michigan

Understanding the adequacy of timber supply is critical for any new wood-using facility. This study examines the physical timber resources that are potentially available from Michigan forests for a new cellulosic energy facility under development in Kinross, Michigan. Findings document the location, quantity, and characteristics of timber, inventory, growth, and removals. Factors likely to affect economic availability in the future are also addressed.
