Plastics recovery on the up

The recovery rate of plastics in Europe was 50 per cent in 2007 - the highest ever, according to a joint report on plastic industry trends by European plastics manufacturing and recycling groups, PlasticsEurope, the European Plastics Converters (EuPC), European Plastics Recyclers (EuPR) and the European Association of Plastic recycling and Recovery (EPRO). In their 18th report on trends in production, demand and recovery of plastics - the "Compelling Facts about Plastics 2007", it finds that "nine countries recovered more than 80 per cent of their used plastics and are near to realising their diversion from landfill vision."
