Council to back 2010 ban on energy guzzling lights

EU trade and industry ministers will next week call for the "worst performing domestic lighting" products to be banned from 2010 providing alternatives are available. The call, which is mainly aimed at lightbulbs, will come in conclusions on the proposed eco-design of energy related products directive (EuP) that the ministers will adopt at the 25-26 Competitiveness Council, where other features of the sustainable consumption and production action plan are also to be considered.
