WWF looks to electric cars to ease climate crisis

Averting climate catastrophe is possible through the increased use of plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles, a new report by green group the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has found. According to WWF, such a shift would also ensure a reduction in the risk of conflict over less oil more and more concentrated in relatively unstable areas of the world. The WWF report looked into the future of a transport sector currently 95 per cent dependent on liquid fossil fuels and considered the impacts and practicalities of electric, coal-to-liquid, gas-to-liquid, natural gas and hydrogen powered transport for the future.
