Parliament has three months to agree the Commission proposal on alternative test methods under the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) regulation, or it will face setbacks and problems, DG Environment Director of Chemicals, Grant Lawrence, told Parliament this week. Mr Lawrence, speaking at the 27 February Environment Committee, told MEPs that the period for the comitology procedure with scrutiny was "beginning to run today", and that he hoped that the MEPs would accept the Commission proposal by 1 June, "otherwise this will create problems and delays for both the cosmetic directive and the REACH regulation".
